The role of Dieticians/Nutritionists is to help promote the idea of good health through eating habits. They assist people in planning diets and advising on eating habits, selection and preparation of food.

Job Prospects

As Nutritionists, you can find employment in hospitals, health and recreation clubs, canteens care facilities, in colleges and universities as faculty, catering departments of star hotels, research labs of food manufacturers and health department of government organization. You can also work as a Consultant or get into private practice.

Eligibility

Students opting for a career in this field need to have passed 10+2 with Science subjects covering Physics, Chemistry, Home Science or Food Science/Technology course at the Graduate and Post Graduate level. At the Post Graduate level, you can either do a one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics and Public Health Nutrition (DDPHN) or a two-year Master’s program like M.Sc in Food Service Management and Dietetics or Food Science and Nutrition.
