Job Prospects

An Architect is able to give final shape to a building only after carefully considering inputs from the client, consulting Engineers, other specialists and getting the nod from the government agencies. Work profile includes designing the building based on the needs of the client, working on execution from start to completion of coordinating highly skilled teams of varied p[professionals, paying close attention to the economics and budget and dealing with various government agencies on numerous codes and by-laws. These professionals, however, need not be restricted to just constructing buildings but can also venture into Urban Designing, Regional Planning, Architectural Conservation, Industry Designing and Landscape Architecture.

For those who have set their hearts on Architecture, an interest in Mathematics, history and Art does help. In addition, knowledge about the history of Architecture, well-known Architects and their styles of working are vital. Certain essential personality traits required in this sphere are teamwork, leadership skills, discipline, analytical thinking, good observation power and awareness and appreciation for social and environmental factors. These apart, good imaginations, dynamism, interpersonal and organizing skills, patience, physical stamina and communication skills to convey a vision or convince others, are important.

Eligibility

One must qualify 10+2 with subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Besides private institutes which conduct their own exams, students can seek admission to courses in Architecture through national and state level entrance examinations.
